Langara College lacrosse standout and former Canadian National Team member Tami Tommila is the head coach of the Bainbridge Island girls lacrosse team. While at Bainbridge, Tommila coached the Spartans to four state championships. For her efforts she was named the 2005 Washington high school girls coach of the year. As an athlete, she competed in three World Cup tournaments, serving as Canadian team captain in 1997. Since 2011, she has been serving on the WSLA board as a high school division rep. A tireless champion of the sport, she runs a Bainbridge youth lacrosse camp for kindergarten through high school aged players and organizes off-season competition opportunities for girls. For all of her exceptional work as a coach, she was inducted into the US Lacrosse - Washington Chapter - Hall of Fame in 2010.
